What is testicular cancer ?
Although relatively rare, testicular cancer is the most
common cancer in males age 15-40 causing about 400
deaths each year. Studies have shown that many men
may delay seeking medical attention for as long as
three to six months after detecting a testicular
abnormality. However, as with many cancers early
detection and prompt treatment are key in improving
the outcome. Since early detection and treatment are
important, properly perform a monthly testicular self-
examination (TSE) and discuss any abnormal or
unusual findings with your health care provider
promptly. Doing the exam regularly once a month may
allow you to detect any changes that may have
occurred.

testicular
cancer
Testicular cancer Testicular cancer is one of the most readily cured types of cancer when detected in its early stages. It's also a very rare cancer . However, it's one of the most common cancers found in young males. It can occur anytime after age 15. It is less common in middle-aged and older men. White men are four times more likely to develop testicular cancer than black men. The rate among Hispanic men lies between those of blacks and whites. Men who had one or both testicles fail to descend from the abdominal cavity into the scrotum prior to birth, those whose testicles descended after age 6, and men with a family history of inguinal hernia during childhood or testicular inflammation in conjunction with the mumps, are at greatest risk for developing this cancer . Although there's no way to prevent testicular cancer , monthly self-examinations can detect this cancer early so it ...

PROSSTATE CANCER
Prostate cancer is the most common form of cancer and is the second leading cause of cancer death in men. The walnut-sized gland located below the bladder is the prostate. The prostate is responsible for secreting about 30 percent of the seminal fluid. Older men often live with prostate cancer for years without knowing they have it. It generally grows slowly and remains within the gland itself. However, in some instances, it can spread rapidly and cause death.

HOW IS TESTICULAR
CANCER DETECTED?
Your doctor usually examines your testicles
during routine physical exams, so it’s important
you have regular checkups. However, most
testicular cancers are found by men themselves,
since they are most familiar with the normal
size and consistency of their testicles.Take three
minutes out of every month to perform the
following four-step self-examination.
1. First, use a mirror to look for any swelling
on the scrotum. Remember that in most
men the left testicle descends somewhat

Testicular cancer , although an uncommon malignancy, is the most frequently
occurring cancer in young men. In the year 2004, an estimated 8,980 cases of
testicular cancer will be diagnosed in the United States. For unknown reasons,
the incidence of this cancer has increased since the turn of the century, from 2
cases per 100,000 population in the 1930s, to 3.7 cases per 100,000 population
from 1969 to 1971, to 5.4 cases per 100,000 population from 1995-1999.
Most testicular tumors are of germ-cell origin. These cancers are uniquely
sensitive to chemotherapy and are considered the model for the treatment of
solid tumors. Perhaps the most ...

It is well known that the monthly breast self-exam is an effective part of early breast cancer detection for
women. However, most men do not realize that following a similar self-exam routine for testicles is just as
important.
According to the Testicular Cancer Resource Center, men should perform monthly self-exams of the tes-
ticles as early as age 15. In fact, though testicular cancer only accounts for 1 percent of all cancers in men,
it is the most common form of cancer in men 15-35 years old. The risk is greater in white American men,
who are five times more likely to be diagnosed with testicular cancer than African-American males.
